The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) is Australia's leading expert body for supporting health and medical research, developing health advice for the Australian community and providing advice on ethical behaviour in health care, and in the conduct of health and medical research.
The NHMRC postgraduate scholarships scheme funds successful applicants to attain a research-based postgraduate degree (Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or a Masters Degree).
It aims to support outstanding health and medical graduates early in their careers, so they can be trained to conduct research that is internationally competitive.
By doing so, it develops the capacity for original independent research within Australia.
