Skype interview and assessment centers (which involves a team task, creative activity, and management interview)

The interview was standard. Questions weren't too difficult and the interviewer seemed approachable if I needed further clarification with questions. I liked that it was a Skype interview - much more convenient.

There's a preliminary online process in which you have to attach your resume and answer some fairly common questions. Once that is done, you'll be sent an email notifying you that you have passed on to the next stage - which is a skype interview. They're usually supposed to be a video call however due to technical difficulties the one I had was just audio. Again, it was fairly common questions that I was being asked, and the manner it was conducted was quite relaxed and more of a conversation as opposed to a structured interview. Next step is the Assessment Centre, which had a range of group activities, written activities, and interviews (one with a senior manager, and one with a Managing Director). The structure and delivery of the Assessment Centre is second to none and expertly done. I think the activities were all challenging but fair, and was overall pretty enjoyable. The interviews were a bit more structured than the skype interview, and the questions were a little bit more difficult but it was overall an enjoyable process.

Candidates submit their resume and cover letters online then go through a round of skype interviews with managers and senior managers that they are likely to work with. Then a shortlist of candidates are invited to a half-day assessment centre where they are assessed through three key tasks; writing, team and creativity.

Do you have any specific tips and advice for candidates applying to your company? How would you recommend they best prepare?
Be honest during the application process - the company looks for applicants that are genuine and are interested in improving themselves
Graduate, Sydney
Most questions are scenario based. Come prepared with several different scenarios from past roles/university.
Graduate, Sydney
Be natural. Not too much preparation required.
Graduate, Melbourne
Be yourself, show your personality and be able to blend into the team.

Know what you've done and be proud of it. For instance, when the interviewer asks for examples of when you've demonstrated leadership, teamwork etc, have multiple examples - did you do this at university, in a sporting team, previous job, from volunteering, in your personal life? I think it's more interesting if you can show that you have these qualities and have applied them all throughout your life experiences. Also, I don't think the examples need to be the greatest accomplishment, they can be small things you've achieved, no matter what you decide to discuss be passionate and take pride in what you've done!

I was really nervous during the Assessment Centre when I did not need to be. As soon as you sit down and start the Assessment Centre everyone makes you feel very welcome and calms you down straight away. I think save yourself the stress and try to stay as relaxed as possible during the assessment centres and just give it your best shot.
