The company had recruited more female grads & tradies and the CEO has publicly stated that there needs to be higher % of female employees. The business is quite multicultural, which is great.
I am from Africa, black is my ethnicity, Austal has made strides to be inclusive of all types of people and continues to lead the industry in this regard. If one puts in the work they get their fair reward. Men and women are all provided with maternity leave as well

I believe that Austal is miles ahead in that perceptive by just looking around and seeing how diverse my colleagues are. We have women at various senior roles all through the company and also there are fair few women working in the Production departments as well.
What does your company do to attract applicants from less privileged backgrounds?
I am only aware that hey have a strong relationship with TAFE /trade schools. They offer work experience to all tafe students and offer full time roles as required.
I do not know of anything explicitly focused on this but l am sure that the platforms that Austal employs to attract talent spans across the many different socio - economic backgrounds.
