Following internships at a big four chartered firm and a major retail organisation, ANZ's Finance Graduate Program proved to be a great fit for my past experience, interests in financial analytics and desire to influence major decision-making within a reputable large organisation.
Within the Finance Graduate Program at ANZ, there is no such thing as a typical role. Across the two year rotational program, I have been involved in a wide range of experiences, including divisional monthly accounting/analysis, enablement activities across the ANZ group, and yearly reporting to the deputy CFO and shareholders. I have also taken part in further training and development such as presentation skills, project management, leadership, and specific technical training.
Key highlights of my time with ANZ include contributing to the receipt of a $9.2m income tax benefit, the preparation of several notes for the ANZ 2014 Half Year Results Announcement and the presentation of a Graduate Project to key stakeholders and senior management.
Challenges I have faced include developing beyond my comfort zone, in order to really add value to the bank. This is a key part of the performance review/development stages, and something which will provide a long lasting benefit as I progress throughout my career.
The ANZ Graduate Program offers a rich variety of experiences, meaning that each day will differ from the next, resulting in a continually engaging environment. With global headquarters in Melbourne, this gives a competitive advantage to any graduate looking to be a factor in the success of such a reputable company.
