What made you decide to apply for Crawford School?
I decided to apply for the Crawford School because of its reputation of being Asia and the Pacific’s leading graduate public policy school. I was already familiar with Canberra and the ANU and thought a graduate degree from Crawford would really benefit my career prospects.
How did you choose your particular further study course (compared to others)?
I decided on environmental and resource economics because I wanted to develop new skills that could be used to compliment my previous studies.
Were you weighing up any alternative degrees or career pathways before choosing this qualification?
While finishing my bachelors I considered looking for work in forestry or the public service before deciding on Crawford. The opportunity of further study was too appealing.
What was the process to get accepted into your course? What were the prerequisites?
The application process was very straight forward. I applied online received an offer a few months later.
What does your study involve? Can you describe a typical day at Crawford School?
A typical day would involve a few hours of lectures along with the occasional tutorial, workshop, or seminar spread out between 9am and 4pm. In between class time ill normally study with friends or maybe head down to Kambri for lunch.
What characteristics or skills do you hope to gain by completing your course?
I hope to improve my critical thinking and analyses skills. And develop an advanced understanding of economic techniques which I’m able to relate environmental issues.
Will this course be beneficial in your career? Where could you or others in your position go from here?
This course will benefit my career and open up new and exciting job opportunities. After graduation, there’s potential to work in both the public and private sector.
What do you love the most about your course?
I appreciate the wide range of people I get to engage with on a daily basis. The Crawford student body is very diverse which lets me discuss topics with people with a different perspective than my own. I’ve also made from great friends at Crawford in the process.
